Dr. Gaurav Chauhan specializes in Cornea and Refractive surgery. He has a special interest in Ocular surface diseases and Ocular trauma. He is experienced in phaco and laser cataract surgeries with the latest intraocular lenses. He is proficient in the treatment of all corneal diseases like keratitis, corneal ulcers, keratoconus (CXL), and injuries. He is skilled in all types of Corneal transplant (penetrating keratoplasty, DSEK, DMEK, DALK), Refractive surgeries (LASIK, PRK, SILK, IPCL), Ocular surface reconstruction (amniotic membrane transplant, fornix reconstruction, mucous membrane grafting, AlloSLET), keratoprosthesis (Boston type 1 kpro) and open globe injury repairs.
He completed his MBBS from RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, followed by DO in Ophthalmology from RIO (Regional Institute of Ophthalmology), Medical College, Kolkata, achieving 3rd rank in the University. Subsequently, he did DNB Ophthalmology (post-graduation) followed by a 2-year fellowship in Cornea, both from the prestigious Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai.
Throughout his career, he has won many accolades, including the Best Outgoing Fellow Award in Sankara Nethralaya (2024) and prizes in multiple quizzes. He has presented at various national and international conferences, including American Academy of Ophthalmology, USA (2023), APAO, Indonesia (2024), KERACON, Chandigarh (2023), and APOIS, Singapore (2020). He has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals like The British Journal of Ophthalmology and Indian Journal of Ophthalmology.
